Walter Eastling’s Bio |
 |
|
Walter Eastling grew up in the shadow of both his father and grandfather in the timbers and rivers of Michigan since he was 5 years old. Wally has always loved the outdoors, but it was only when he picked up a bow and arrow for the first time that his true love was to be discovered. He received that first Bear Recurve when he was 7 years old, and says that first flight of the arrow was all it took, and he’s been hooked ever since! That was some 32 years ago, and Wally’s passion for |

bowhunting is stronger than ever.
Wally is a full-time deputy sheriff for his home county in Michigan. His lovely wife Jackie, daughter Stephanie and step-daughter Jenna have always been understanding of Wally’s addiction to hunting, fishing, and everything else “outdoors”. Wally works hard in the off-season so that he has maximum vacation time to use during the fall of the year. He is a true working class guy – that sacrifices a lot to chase whitetails across the Midwest every fall.
Wally is an accomplished bowhunter who’s killed over 100 deer in his lifetime. He killed his first book animal back in 1989 – which was a 125” Michigan monster. Since then, Wally has killed some very impressive bucks; including two Illinois bucks that scored 147” and 153”. To this day though, Wally’s finest moment came in the fall of 2005 when he killed a 142” 8-point buck with his bow on Michigan public land. To anyone who doesn’t know – that is truly a world class animal for Michigan public land. A buck very few (of the many Michigan hunters) will ever see while hunting the northern lower peninsula of Michigan.
Todd's Comments
Wally has played a major part in my own hunting career, and I wouldn’t be where I am without him. I’ve now been hunting with Wally since 1992, and in the last 5 years – we’ve accomplished more together than two Michigan hunters would ever dream. To this day – my favorite memory with Wally is the drive back to Michigan from Illinois after our first out-of-state hunt. The happiest drive of our lives, and man did we have my truck packed to the rafters! |
