Jason Syens' Bio
|

|
|
Jason Syens grew up in a small town in Columbia County Wisconsin called Friesland;
population 200. It is in this small town that Jason’s passion for the outdoors began
at the early age of 13, and he’s been hooked ever since. One of Jason’s most memorable
days in the field was when he killed his first buck at the age of 16 on his friend
Dave Prochnow’s family farm. Jason and Dave have been chasing whitetails hard ever-since!

Jason admits that for a while, he and Dave didn’t get a chance to hunt together
as much as they both would have liked. This is another aspect of filming hunts that
Jason really can appreciate. It has allowed him to spend far more time with his
best friend, doing what they both love so much. It is also a great way for Jason
to blow off some of the stresses of running a business; which I can relate to!
When Jason’s not in the field with a bow or camera, he’s a pretty busy running the
family operated used car dealership in Portage, Wisconsin; Jenkin’s Motor Sales.
Jason’s wife Jean is a big part of how Jason is able to spend so much time in the
field. Jean “run’s the show” for Jason when he’s in tree, and is a trooper for weeks
at a time when Jason has “deer” on the brain. Jason and Jean also have 3 boys to
keep them busy; Hunter, Bobby, and Jackson.
Todd’s Comments: I don’t remember exactly how
I met Jason and Dave, but I believe Jason and I had been emailing back and forth
for some-time about his interest in joining our team. I told Jason the same thing
I tell all our “hopefuls”. Hard work is the key ingredient for being successful
in filming hunts. There are no short-cuts. Well, after attending the WKP video school,
Jason and his partner Dave have been two of our most dedicated team members. Jason
had told me that becoming a team member of a hunting production was one of his major
life goals. Now he can mark one off the list! Another thing Jason can mark off his
list is having the most styled hair-cut on the team. It can be blowing 56 mph from
the straight North; and his hair isn’t going to move! He he he...
