Bruce Ripka’s Bio |
 |
|
From the day his dad handed him that first Bear recurve, Bruce Ripka has been taking to the field with bow in hand pursuing whitetails, and pretty much anything else that moved! Mike; Bruce’s dad, took him into the field whenever possible. From still hunting, to hanging stands; the father son duo did everything together.
At the age of 12, on one of Bruce’s first solo hunts, Bruce took his first whitetail deer with a bow. A short while later his |

parents returned to find their son flagging them down like the house was on fire. The thrill and exhilaration he felt while telling them the story is a memory that Bruce says he’ll never forget. Ever since that first deer, Bruce has been a bowhunting nut!
Several years later while attending college he met his best friend, wife, and hunting partner all in one. Since that day in 1999 Bruce and Lisa have taken the term “hunting partners” to the extreme. Seldom has a day passed in the fall that the two of them aren’t in a set-up on a field edge or timber ridge sharing the experience that he first felt nearly a decade earlier.
By trade, Bruce is a Health and Safety Director for an environmental remediation contractor. Although gifted with a generous vacation package, work always seems to obstruct his ultimate goal of spending time in the woods with Lisa, and pursuing giant whitetails. Days in the woods with family and friends are never taken for granted, and thanks are given to everyone that has helped Bruce to get where he is today.
Todd’s Comments
I’ve known Bruce as long as nearly anyone in my life. We attended the same church, were confirmed, went to high-school, and graduated in the class of 1996 from Grand Haven High School together. Amazingly, it was only after we completed college, that we became close hunting friends. Since the first few times shooting bows at my old house (which later became Bruce and Lisa’s home), Bruce has become one of my closest friends. I have had so many classic experiences with Bruce, it’s hard to determine which one sticks out the most! One of the top memories for-sure has got to be the day Bruce decided to take his time crossing a certain corn field in Central Illinois on a shed hunting trip. Who could have believed that Warn hubs could break? Thank god for a 94 year old farmer and his 300 year-old tractor! |
