Ted’s greatest memory is the time he shot a running fox with his dad’s 30-30 after his dad missed. Ted was in the 3rd grade at the time!
Ted started deer hunting when he got to the junior high age. He killed his first big buck in Southern Iowa and at the time believed it was a giant! He brought the 120” rack to school to show it off because he was so proud. It was when Ted’s buddy killed a 130” buck later that season that Ted began to really get into what can now be described as quest for big bucks!
Because he has always been self-employed as a farmer and bull-dozer operator; he’s always had the luxury of hunting when he wanted. This has enabled Ted to put the time in the field it takes for these big mature bucks. He has killed a 203 Net Non-Typical buck with a bow, as well as a Net typical Booner with a bow as well. Ted admits his biggest accomplishment is setting both his wife Susan and son up on 190+ bucks. Ted’s wife Susan is very understanding when it comes to Ted’s passion for filming and hunting big whitetails.
Todd’s Comments
I met Ted at this past years Iowa Deer Classic and it didn’t take me long to realize I was talking with a guy who knew big bucks. As humble as Ted is, he showed me his photo album without so-much as blinking an eye at the GIANT bucks he’s collected over the years. Ted is the type of guy that you would never know was a big buck slayer, because he would never brag about it. One of the greatest aspects of WKP has been meeting folks like Ted. I can’t wait to share Ted’s story with you all in the upcoming videos.
