Jesse Godwin's Bio

It is by pure and simple luck that Jesse was brought into this land. His father (Randy) a roadie for a Def Leppard cover band met his innocent teenage mother (Elaine) at a gig in Des Moines, Iowa in 1980. After telling his mother that he was the lead singer but he was not singing that night because of his bank account being so large that he had to open another one that night, the naive teenager fell in love the roadie.

And on September 8th 1981 Jesse was born into the world. It wasn't long before Jesse was running the streets of South-side Des Moines, Iowa. The rough and rugged streets were not full of drug-dealers and gang bangers but of something even worse. Dollar stores, pawn shops and “buy here pay here” car dealerships.

Even though Jesse was surrounded by all of this while growing up and surprisingly was very bright for his situation. He went on to become a C average student and was given many awards in high-school like (Most likely to go to prison) and (Funniest 5th year senior)

It wasn’t until after high-school when Jesse found his passion for white-tail hunting. He met some farm boys in a near-by small town and they introduced Jesse into what would become is passion. Jesse in the years following has harvested some great deer in the timbers of South-Central Iowa. But in the fall of 2007 his life was about to change. While hunting public land and sitting in his 10 foot ladder stand, while down-wind of the main bedding area Jesse was about to have an accident. As he was packing up getting ready to head home for the morning and doe burst into the scene. The doe came running past his setup and Jesse gripped in 1987 Fred Bear Classic and right then, there he was. A massive buck deer! He came running past Jesse’s stand and he shouted “Hey animal” The deer stopped and Jesse drew back his bow. “You know at that point all that I was thinking about is what side-dish I was going to bring to the tail-gate that morning” Jesse did make time to release the arrow, and unbelievably the arrow struck the beast! “I was really freaking out because I didn’t have a tag for an Elk. And as I was watching him run away I was sure it was an Elk.” This was no Elk that Jesse shot but it was what every bow hunter dreams of. A 210” deer! “You know I really like the deer on my wall, I think I’ll keep it there for awhile.”

Since then Jesse has been filming his hunts and has been embarrassing himself and t.v. sets across the land. Jesse now works for John Deere and is currently in-love with life, with whitetail deer, and with driving around Des Moines wearing an eye patch.

Todd’s Comments

In the long history of “team member bios”, Scoonie is the first team member who submitted a bio that was so good, it didn’t need any editing. For that, this bud’s for you brother! I don’t think we have another team member that has more un-hunting-related talent than Scoonie. If you have seen the bloopers section of “Ground Zero” you will know what I’m talking about! If you haven’t, it’s a MUST SEE! Forget the video, go straight to the bloopers my friends…
